MEET THE ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE: Calvin Yug from Collectif On A Slamé Sur La Lune
Calvin Yug
Calvin Yug is a musician drumer and sound designer. Resident researcher at the Cité International Arts of Paris in 2006, his work results from the frictions and fusions between the musical cultures of Africa, Europe, from Latin America and Asia, passing from music traditional to jazz.
In reaction to a free standardization of sound, he explores electronic sound universes in resonance with the different themes addressed through the modular sound synthesizers set. Calvin Yug thus lives his art as a link between generations and cultures in theirspecificities. Its artistic aesthetic invites you on a techno and ethno-historical journey.
Within the MANIFEST Artistic Journey, Calvin will be working with Albert Morisseau Leroy dit Manalone and Fred Ebami as a member of the Collectif On A Slamé Sur La Lune.
What motivates me in the MANIFEST project is its multidisciplinary, multidimensional and international side in the service of a dialogue with the memories of our History and its impact on humans. It opens a new door to my artistic approach in a desire for reconstruction, re-appropriation and reconciliation with oneself and the humanities.
